Even though Blake and my anniversary is not until March 4th, we took an amazing opportunity to have most of the week away last week!
Grant has been away for several weeks now, living in Madison, while attending some classes for his job with Mathy Construction.
This meant that his place was sitting there empty, which made it seem like the perfect place for Blake and my get away trip this year!
Close by! And free!
We took the long five minute van ride to our get away destination last Monday night and returned back home on Friday evening.
IT. WAS. FABULOUS!
Grant’s place is super nice!
Let’s just have a moment about that couch of his!
If I could have lifted it, I would have stolen it, ha, ha!
Bible time on a reclining leather couch was awesome.
I am sure it goes without saying that Blake and I ate like kings.
We made some super yummy meals!
We also found a new yummy flavor of ice cream!
It was Coconut Bliss Salted Caramel – and comes highly recommended!
If you have been around here awhile, you know the Mrs. of this couple had some goals for our time away.
She’s overly driven that way.
Thankfully she has a Mr. who brings her lofty goal setting self out of the clouds and reminds her to go with the flow!
Two of my goals, however, were to spend time with our bigs, which is something we never do without the whole crew.
So, one morning we grabbed some cookies and coffee and headed to Briar’s place to be with David, Kay, and our four grands!
I am smiling just typing about it!
It was WONDERFUL.
We actually had a conversation and FINISHED it!
We played with our grand babies!
We baked those cookies and ate them!
It was SO FUN!!!
This is something we must do again!
We left Briar’s place right before lunch and headed to Madison to do some shopping and spend some time with Grant.
A Costco stop was a must, even when I could not by any cold products!
We shopped the afternoon away and met Grant after his class finished for that day and had dinner with him.
THE BEST.
Absolutely the BEST!
When we were in town one of the days of our get away, we were handed twenty dollars while we were getting gas!
That made a coffee treat an obvious choice, don’t you think?!
The perfect treat while we roamed around Barnes and Noble and read some books!
I did meet another goal of getting Blake to the eye doctor and helping him pick out new glasses!
Seeing the eye doctor was much needed, and so were those new glasses!
After our appointments were done, we finished out our get away trip at the grocery store getting our weekly grocery.
We got home with all that grocery Friday evening just in time for dinner!
I think everyone was glad to have us home, but two cuties in particular were very glad we were back!
We unpacked and got right to bed to head into a very busy, but very wonderful weekend!
I feel like I repeat myself a lot here in this little blog of ours – but maybe some things are worth repeating?
Like how thankful I am that I have a husband who will go hang out with me in our son’s empty apartment to spend purposeful time together to invest in our marriage!!
It is never lost on me.
That Blake cherishes me so much, I mean.
Our life is A LOT.
The Lord has trusted us with a lot!
It TAKES WORK to keep our marriage strong, our smiles bright for each other, and our conversations purposeful – so we can, with the Lord’s strength, do our best for Him.
We have to keep it all in order to make this happen!
God first, then marriage, then the children!
We both long for it ALL to be to the Glory of God!
May it be so! May the glory be all Yours, Heavenly Father!!
