Well, my weekly recap post idea isn’t working out exactly like I hoped it would!
Since it is almost two weeks since my last post and all.
But goals are good!
Something to work toward!
We have had some very fun things happening here at Twin Oaks!
Four of our grand babies stayed with us for two nights and three days while their Mama and Daddy (and baby sister!) went on a little get away trip!
IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!
They are really at fun ages right now and we had a ball together!!
That Saturday had the most beautiful weather, so we busted out of this place and went to the library, Addie’s store, and a park to play.
Time at the park made for some great naps – even for the NaiNai of these cuties, ha, ha!
Everyone played so nicely together here and I just LOVE that Lane, Tate and Eliza are growing up like cousins and best friends with our grand babies!
The kitchen was a hopping place!!
Our grands are good eaters like our own kiddos and it was a joy to cook for them!!
After David and Kay picked up our grands on Sunday night, Blake and I headed out on a little date to drop some stuff off at church for our women’s meeting the next night.
You have no idea how thankful I am that Blake had this great idea – and his help carrying everything inside!
My van got hit by a sixteen year old new driver about a month ago (while sitting in a parking lot), and it caused $1400 worth of damage.
UGH.
I finally was able to drop it off at the body shop for the repair and came home sporting this lovely 2006 Ford Taurus that HAD NO HEAT.
It was a fun week with that thing!
We opted for a no school day the Monday after the grand babies were here.
It was a good choice.
We still did a lot of read aloud and piano lessons, of course!
And I spent time getting ready for that women’s meeting at church!
We had a wonderful get together at church, by the way!
We listened to Susan Hunt, who had just spoken at the Revive Our Hearts Conference in Indianapolis.
It was SO GOOD!
The rest of that week brought us back to normal things….school, art, food prep, and pool therapy for Tate.
Addie let us borrow her car one day (so we would have heat and all!)…so we took her to work!
We reviewed memory verses and sang our worship song as we came back up the hill.
I just love Ruby Jane and how much she loves to be with us!
She even joins us for piano lessons, and cries on the stairs if the gate is closed and she can’t get to us.
Of course our afternoons, when home, are always full of good things too.
I have been enjoying hot cocoa during my quiet Bible time in the early monrings.
It really hits the spot on such cold days!!
I also learned about this “brain dump” method at Family Camp this year – where you just write down everything that is in your brain that is taking up important thinking space!
It is a good thing to do right before you open your Bible, just saying.
Friday was the day that Eliza got to present the check to the police officer at the library!
See my last post for the whole story.
She was SO excited!!
The dog’s name was Dax, and even though we could not get near him or touch him, we enjoyed asking lots of questions and hearing the police officer talk about his beloved dog!
Blake and I had a date night Friday night – my FAVORITE!!
We always seem to end up at the grocery store these days, but we did do some fun shopping and had a snack dinner together first!
Don’t you just love that sign over Blake’s shoulder there?
So funny.
I took this photo at a stop light as I drove into town Friday night to meet Blake.
The colors here were GORGEOUS this last week!
Speaking of my sweet hubby – he got our little restaurant out and stocked up for our first customers of the winter!
I can’t wait to see all the birds there – they bring me so much joy!
Saturday morning Addie, Eliza and I left on a little over night trip!
We drove a little over four hours to visit some friends and go to a graduation party for one of them.
It was such a nice weekend!!
The dynamics of just the girls was so sweet, seeing our friends and catching up with many others at the party was awesome, the weather and those fall colors were OUTSTANDING, and we also got to attend one of our favorite away from home churches!!
I will sign off with this beautiful sunrise photo from the deck….it literally made us gasp!
The camera just does not do it justice!
How’s that for another wonderful week or two?
I’d say pretty full and fun!!
Looking forward, Lord willing, to lots more of the same ahead!!
Happy November, everyone!!
Christmas will be here before we know it!!
