Here at Twin Oaks, Fridays are cleaning and grocery days!
It has been part of the rhythm of our weeks for so many years I cannot even remember a time we did things differently.
We have had a hard time finding a good system for grocery since moving to Twin Oaks.
We are just “that” much farther from town than we were before and there is no way around it – grocery shopping for this many people with our restrictions is just a HUGE job!
As of late, Addie and I have been splitting up the job and the stops that need made, while trying to shop for two weeks at at time.
The kiddos get after their cleaning chores on Friday mornings, but for me – my first stop is Sams Club.
This past Friday I was just SO happy it was blue, sunny, and somewhat warm – even if the wind was whipping around!
I am super thankful that I can shop at Sams Club – but I have to say, I wish it were Costco!
I still manage to fill a cart!
Every Friday morning I also meet with my trainer, Heather!
We make a huge investment in this part of life – with both time and money – but Blake, the kids and even I feel it is a very important part of maintaining my health.
We are SO super thankful for Heather too!
Next up was a quick stop at the bank and then off to one of my happy places – the Coop!!
Chad calls this place a “nose circus!”
It IS!
Big, big mistake to go there hungry.
Don’t ask me how I know that.
We still live on a ridge here at Twin Oaks – and Fridays I go up and down that ridge for grocery and then again for date night!
The rest of Friday I am cleaning and getting my designated jobs done.
Menu planning during naps was a great success!
What is not pictured here is the handful of chocolate chips I ate while doing this, just saying.
This past Friday someone woke up from his nap crying.
He was not feeling good!
Just look at this sad face!
Tate ran a fever all weekend, but never had any other symptoms besides a sore throat.
Thankful!
We always are on high alert when Tate complains about not feeling well because of that shunt!
Soon after naps, Addie and Chad were back with the bulk of two weeks worth of grocery and then it was time for DATE NIGHT!!
Super important time for my hubby and I – we breathe, connect, communicate, hold hands, and regroup in time for the hustle of the weekend.
I love date night.
So much so I did not take one photo of it this past Friday!
I still evaluate the rhythms in our home often, and sometimes change them, but Friday cleaning and grocery day is here to stay I think!
Fridays, you keep me on my toes, but I am so thankful for routines that make life easier!
What is the title of the cookbook in your photo please? Love to you all.
It is called Nourishing Meals, but it is old and I think out of print? The authors website is here: http://www.nourishingmeals.com/ Love to you all TOO!!!
