One of my goals for this summer is to learn about photography.
It seems like a daunting thing to achieve, because I literally do not have one moment of time that I feel I can devote to this goal!
But, I am going to try.
When I told Addie Mae my desire to learn about photography, she said, “Mom, it’s all about the eye.”
I have been chewing on that statement for a couple of days, and today I decided to walk around and look at things with a whole new “eye.”
With my camera in hand, of course!
It certainly helps that it is a beautiful, blue, sunny, warm day!
I have been noticing that our poplar trees are filling out from the top down.
If they did that in years past, I certainly don’t remember it!
As I held my camera up, I paid close attention to what my eye was seeing in the WHOLE lens.
Then I moved my camera a little this way and a little that way and ended up with these photos.
All about the eye!
Since I was out on the farm with the camera, I started to walk around.
So much I never want to forget!
I looked at everything I wanted a photo of from many different angles – but ended up with these photos.
Of course I had to take photos of my darling kiddos too!
Whatever I did to the settings for this one backfired!
But it was too cute to leave out – blurry or not!
It is really pretty easy with a good camera, a beautiful farm, and a bright sunny day to get good photos.
It is the other times that I am needing to learn more about!
The dark school room.
Constantly moving children.
How to make food look beautiful in a photo.
Those are the things that a photography class is made for!
Here’s hoping I can keep working toward this goal and you all will be seeing a better quality of photos soon!
Have you heard of the Great Courses? They have a photography course that is available from our local library. Perhaps you would be able to find it at your library or through a library loan system.

I found the DVD to be very informative. It’s time I revisit that course…
Thank you, Tammy!! Can’t wait to check this out!
