Our Trip To Indy

Last Wednesday we headed out on a road trip!

It takes a small army to get ready to go on a road trip!

Thankfully my crew was all home and very helpful as we got ready to go.

We rented this big “bus” so we could all fit in one vehicle.

It was nice to have the space and very comfy too!

Our first stop was Peoria, Illinois.

We arrived there late Wednesday evening, went to our hotel and pretty much got ready for bed.

Thursday morning we visited with Blake’s Mom at our favorite coffee shop!

We headed to Blake’s Dad’s house for lunch and enjoyed a visit with the kiddos Grandpa and Grandma!!

Pretty soon it was time to get on the road to head to Indianapolis.

We hoped to get to my Mom and brother’s place in time for dinner!

We are country bumpkins for sure, in so many ways, and taking in the sights of the big city was fun.

We had adjoining hotel rooms again in Indianapolis!

Hotel life was pretty much like home life.

Except for the maid who cleaned our rooms everyday for us, of course.

And the fact that the beds were the most AMAZING beds I have ever slept in.

I could not figure out how to get one of them in our van!!

I still found a spot for my quiet time early in the morning in our cramped quarters while the kiddos still slept.

And there was always coffee available!

We are the Moschels, after all!!

Breakfast was always in our room with food we brought from home.

It filled our bellies though!

Hard boiled eggs and cold bacon on this particular morning!

Friday morning we decided to start this vacation off right and let the kiddos swim.

Our hotel had a very nice pool!

After swimming we headed to my Mom’s for awhile!

Waiting for Blake to pull up the van gave us a chance to warm up our bones by this beautiful fire at the front door of the hotel!

After an early lunch we headed to the Children’s Museum!

With about 10,000 other people!

I kid you not!

It was TERRIBLY crowded.

A beautiful museum though!

They had an exhibit about the statues that were found in China.

And a planetarium!

About two seconds after I took this photo a rocket “took off” through the ceiling of that planetarium and I had my hands over my face!

The blown glass sculpture in the middle of the museum was so neat!

Tate jumped in this real Indy race car so his Mama could get a photo!

It was about right by that race car that Tate and Eliza were about in tears.

It was just too much with how crowded it was.

We had lasted two hours though!!

We left, drove though Bates Hendricks and Fountain Square to see the houses that the show Good Bones had renovated, got some Starbucks, and headed back to my Mom’s to make dinner and play some games!

We had a GREAT time!!

Saturday we woke up to pouring rain.

We had hoped to go to the zoo, but that was not going to work anymore!

So we stopped at a Dollar General and got some word find books, coloring books, coloring pencils, and games to take to my Mom’s place!

After lunch we walked around a mall for an hour or so just to get out a bit!

Saturday afternoon we went back to the hotel to swim!

While we were eating dinner at my Mom’s Saturday evening, it started to snow.

It came down quick!

We got back to the hotel quick!

But then Blake, Grant and Addie went to run after some things we needed!

Sunday morning it was time for the long drive back to Twin Oaks.

It took us about 8 and 1/2 hours.

We went through Chicago, of all the crazy things to do!

But we found a Starbucks!!

We got off those crazy highways in Madison and headed to Chipotle for a late lunch.

Do you see Tate’s empty bowl????

That is unbelievable and needs to be noted here!

I couldn’t believe he ate all that!

Once we left Madison we were back on our two lane country roads and SO HAPPY about that!

It was a great, great, great visit with my Mom and brother.

Can’t wait till next time!!

But it was so good to be back home too.

I think Ruby and Sadie would agree, don’t you?

Thanks for the GREAT time, Mike and Mom!!

WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!!
