Happy Birthday, Chad Ryan!!

Our Chad is sixteen!

He was born one week before Christmas, and it was the sweetest time to have a newborn baby!

Chad’s birthday celebration this year has been very, very non-traditional – in a ‘random, last minute’ kind of way.

Sorry, Chad!!!

The day of Chad’s birthday, his lab, Sadie Jo, was scheduled to have surgery to be spay.

Since we had to all head to town to drop Sadie off, we decided to go to the Coop and pick out some treats – since it was Chad’s birthday and all!

That night I made chocolate cake mug cups and we ate them with ice cream while we watched the movie The Overcomer.

Chad has been wanting to watch that movie, so I was happy when that very day you were finally able to rent it on Amazon!

We also gave Chad a gift from all of us!

A tool belt and some tools!

He loved it and has been using it at work.

While my brother and mom were visiting we celebrated again!

Addie Mae made a chocolate peppermint cake.

Everyone raved and raved about how good it was!

We still have to have Chad’s meal of choice – and like any guy who grows an inch every day – he asked for sweet and sour meatballs over noodles!

No veggies necessary!

We might have to have another dessert too, don’t you think?

Chad Ryan – you are PURE JOY!!

Your quick wit mixed with your heart full of compassion for others makes you A GEM!

WHAT A PRIVILEGE TO BE YOUR MAMA.

SIXTEEN!!

Happy, happy birthday to our gentle giant, Chaddy!!

WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!

A Very Special Christmas Visit

This past week my brother brought my Mom all the way from Indianapolis to Wisconsin for a visit!

I am not sure I can find the right words to express how grateful I am for my brother Mike.

But I am! So, so grateful!!

And more grateful for their visit!

We treasure each time we are together!

Of course there were Christmas gifts!

We had a little gift opening time!

I just LOVE these new pjs that Tate and Eliza got!

I LOVE this photo too!!!

We had a lot of good food, good talks, and some routy games over their three night stay!

We also celebrated this guy’s birthday….but more on that later!

We have plans to visit my brother and Mom this spring, Lord willing, and are looking forward to it already!!

Kayla and her crew are going to go with us too!

We are SO glad my brother and mom got to be here with us!

THANK YOU, MIKE, FOR MAKING THAT HAPPEN!

WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH AND CAN’T WAIT UNTIL NEXT TIME!!!

Birthday Bash

On November 17th we were THRILLED to celebrate FOUR birthdays of our favorite people!

Briar was turning ONE, Clyde and Ellie would both be four, and their Daddy had a birthday too!

Kayla knows how to throw a birthday bash!

Just look at this spread she made!

It was super yummy!

After we devoured everything on that table, it was time for presents!

Watching our grand babies open their gifts was the BEST!

Especially Ellie Joy who would yell “WOW!!!” before she even saw what her gift was!

River helped with the gifts!

When it came time for the cake, Kay decided that we should all sing to Briar first – since she was turning one and had her own cake!

HOW CUTE IS THIS.

Briar is the happiest baby – calm, easy going, and full of joy – just like her Mama!

I do not have a photo of Clyde, Ellie and David enjoying their birthday cupcakes.

Shame, shame!

If you have been here awhile, you know how much we love, love, love to be together.

We never seem to get to do that enough these days!

It was wonderful to spend the afternoon and evening together!

It was also wonderful to celebrate three of our beautiful grand babies and our amazing son-in-law!

These grand babies of ours are growing up fast!

How I wish time would slow down!

Happy, happy birthday to you Clyde Strength, Ellie Joy, Briar Promise, and David Joel!

WE LOVE YOU ALL SOOOO MUCH!!

Over Five Months

It has been over five months since Chad’s accident where he almost lost four of his fingers on his left hand.

I cannot believe it has been that long, but at the same time it feels like it has been longer!

This past week we finished up all of Chad’s appointments for his hand!

Praise, praise!!

First up was our last hand therapy visit with Chad’s wonderful therapist, Missy.

We took a gift because we love her so much and we are going to miss her!!

Chad’s appointment went well and all of the measurements that were taken still showed progress.

We both gave Missy a big hug and as we walked out of the hospital I got a bit emotional!

We decided to head to the local Co-op and get a treat to celebrate – a ginger ale and a kombucha!

Next, on Monday, we headed to Madison for our last appointment with Chad’s hand surgeon.

We took some helpers!

The surgeon thought Chad’s progress was FABULOUS, and told us that he will continue to make progress for many more months!

We too believe Chad will make more progress and are very hopeful for that to happen!

It was lunch time when we finished up at the hospital so we headed to Chipotle to have some lunch and celebrate again!

WHAT A JOURNEY.

From that phone call from Chad on June 28th saying he had been hurt, all the way until now.

It makes me teary eyed to think back on it all!

Not because it was hard, even though it was, but because we have seen the Lord use this in our lives and hearts in SO many ways.

I also know that the Lord has used it in many more ways that we will never even know about!

We are thankful.

SO THANKFUL!

Thankful beyond any words could ever say that Chad has his fingers.

Thankful for Chad’s maturity and character as he has dealt with this huge trial.

Thankful for all who have come along beside us, prayed for us, and cheered us on through these months of therapy.

Praise the Lord with us today!

Chad is healing and his appointments are all done!!

To God be the glory!!!
