It is an evening you do not want to miss!
Hope to see you there!!
Their birthdays are one day apart and they have always shared a birthday party their whole lives!
They planned their meal and dessert together this year – choosing steak, baked potatoes, a big lettuce salad, and fruit salad.
It was YUMMY.
Of course there were gifts!
A gift for Addie came in the mail from her friend who just moved away a couple weeks before hand.
SO sweet!!
Chad was a little bothered that Grant and Addie had been promoted to the “you are adults and now get one gift each” level, ha, ha!
But they have been promoted and each got a new suitcase!
Their father and mother are a smidge practical and wanted to get them a gift that would last!
There was CAKE!
I had so many of you message me on Instagram that day to ask who made the cake!
You all are SO funny!
In my defense I asked Addie Mae if I could make their cake – to which she said “Mom, NO WAY!”
Smart girl.
I trained her, just saying.
If I had made the cake it would not have looked or tasted like this one!
Kayla was in charge of decorations and brought these sparkler candles.
They were perfect!!
We spent the rest of the evening sipping coffee and being with our favorites.
Time is whizzing on by, and these two, who arrived into our family only 180 days apart and were called “the babies” all those years ago, are grown up.
Cliche, I’m sure, but it goes SO FAST!
Grant Evan and Addie Mae – we are thankful for you both!
You live your lives set apart – and we know it is not easy to walk the narrow road!
Dad and I give ALL the glory to the Lord that He has your hearts and we pray that He will keep them.
You are precious gifts to us, and we are not worthy to call either of you ours.
It was a JOY to celebrate your birthdays!!!!
Happy, happy birthday to our “G”and “Ads”!!!!!
WE LOVE YOU BOTH SO MUCH!!!!
Hundreds – hundreds!! – of Monarch butterflies!
We ran onto the deck ABSOLUTELY IN AWE.
We quickly realized that our trees here at Twin Oaks were going to be their place to bed down for the night.
I ran for my big camera with my long lens – and just look at what I captured.
“Ah Lord God! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:” Jeremiah 32:17
“Thou showest loving-kindness unto thousands,” Jeremiah 32:18a
“Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?” Jeremiah 32:27
“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” Jeremiah 33:3
“Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.” Jeremiah 17:7
This, friends, was a gift from God.
And something I will never forget.
I actually have been setting my phone aside when we are with our grand babies – a desire of my heart is to be fully present and not distracted by trying desperately to get a good, not blurry photo of them!
Most often we spend Wednesdays at Briar’s place for lunch and play time, Thursdays we take dinner there and everyone meets us there for a big family meal, and then on Sundays Briar and her people come to Twin Oaks to have snacks with us in the evening.
WE LOVE BEING TOGETHER!!
The weekend of Tate’s birthday back at the beginning of August the big kids went to stay at Grant’s place and we invited Clyde over for a sleep over with Tate and Eliza.
You guys – this was THE BEST!
Blake was out of town with work so it was just me and these three cuties!
These photos are all from Briar’s place – Shiloh Valley Farm – our home away from home!!
We had Clyde, Ellie and River one Friday a while back, and it was SO sweet to see their Aunt and Uncles include them in everything – even their chores!
I left Addie Mae with a pile of kiddos and took two of them with me to get groceries that day.
SUPER, SUPER FUN!!
Grocery shopping is the pits until you see it through the eyes of two little people!
We also all meet up at Grant’s place on occasion – it is a great place for Sunday night snack night!
YEP.
Pretty much living my dream.
Being married and having children was my heart’s desire way back in High School – but I don’t think I ever could have imagined that the Lord would grab hold of my heart in my early 20’s and write our story the way He has.
Praise be to Him for these children!!!!
