Some Peppermint Fun

This past week we finally attempted to make the peppermint candy ornaments I had planned.

It was a fun project for the kiddos, easy to do, and they turned out just as they said they would!

First, we needed to unwrap all of the peppermints!

The kiddos chose cookie molds they wanted to use, and then placed the peppermints in them – cutting some of the mints to fill the molds as full as they could.

The anticipation of waiting for the candies to melt was adorable!

We baked them at 350 degrees for seven minutes.

They melted perfectly, and the part that oozed out the sides of the molds broke off easily.

After I broke the access off, I just stretched the sides of the molds to get the ornaments to pop out.

I had sprayed the molds with coconut oil spray before the kiddos put the candies in them – which is why they popped out so easily!

I also let them sit for two minutes once out of the oven, and then used a toothpick dipped in olive oil to make the hole in the ornament for the string to go through.

Now I am left wondering what else we could melt in cookie molds!!?

It was a fun, inexpensive craft and we added about a dozen new ornaments to our tree because of it!
