It has been so fun teaching a letter a week to the littles this year!
I can’t believe we have already done 19 letters.
It has been such an easy way to organize their school days.
And they are always asking by Monday afternoon, “What letter is next week, Mom?”
We just finished the letter “R” before Christmas break.
It was a FUN week!
We follow the My Father’s World curriculum first each day.
Then I add read aloud books and crafts to finish off each day.
I order most of our read aloud books from the library and swing in to pick them up off the hold shelf when I am in town!
After reading Good Night, Little Rainbow Fish, we painted a rainbow fish using celery sticks.
SO cute. And fun!
I mean, seriously, just look at those smiles!
We also made a bunny by painting with a potato.
Painting with food is a great sensory snack for Eliza!
We made a letter “R” full of rain clouds and rain drops.
Of course we did!
And what good teacher would not use a rainbow craft on “R” week?
I did not have the book Stone Soup in time for “R” week, so we watched it on You Tube instead.
Gotta love You Tube when you are a teacher winging it as you go!
I also ordered about 20 Christmas picture books from the library to add to the many we already have on hand.
We would read some everyday and then do Christmas and snowflake crafts!
The painter’s tape snowflakes turned out so cute!
I also have lots of hands on activities that the littles love to do.
These things just re-enforce what they are already learning!
We are on Christmas break right now, but I am looking forward to starting school back up in the new year!
I love teaching all grades and ages, which is the blessing that being a home school teacher allows, but I think teaching Pre-K is my favorite!
They are such little sponges at this age!
And they learn SO much, so quickly!
The big girls already talk about using these hands-on curriculums that I have for their own children someday.
I picture a NaiNai school day once a week with all my grand children over at one time for school with NaiNai!
Now, won’t THAT be fun!!!
Home school 2016, you did not disappoint!
What a blessing it has been to teach these kiddos!
